Caelan Doris could face Connacht but four Leinster players ruled out due to injury

Four Leinster players have been ruled out of Friday's interprovincial derby against Connacht but Caelan Doris could return after completing his return-to-play protocols.

Ireland No 8 Doris has seen just four minutes of action this season, having suffered a head injury during the early stages of last month's win over Benetton, but he is back in contention for the BKT United Rugby Championship leaders' trip to the Sportsground.

Jack Conan will undergo further assessment this week after hurting his back during the warm-up ahead of the Sharks game, while a decision will also be made on Dave Kearney's availability as he recovers from the abductor injury suffered against Ulster.

Ruddock, McGrath and Baird are all following the graduated return-to-play protocols.

"I watched Connacht-Munster on Friday, it was a great win for them on the new pitch. The atmosphere looked pretty electric down there as well.

"Our guys are trying to get their minds ready for the physical battle that it will be, but also being able to think clearly in terms of trying to execute our plan and nullify some of Connacht’s threats."

Cullen also confirmed the signing of hooker Tadgh McElroy on a short-term deal.
