Cadwell BSB: ‘Home podium the aim’ for Jackson

Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson heads the pack as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship gears up for Cadwell Park.

The first of the front runners yet to be confirmed in the 2022 Showdown fight, Jackson sits third in the standings on 219 points, with teammate Rory Skinner 20 behind in fourth. Six races remain to decide their fate and with three coming at Jackson’s home round this weekend, the Lincoln rider is hopeful the local support could boost a strong weekend and secure his debut in the title fight at the close of the 2022 season.

“Going into Cadwell Park my main aim to start with is to have a consistent weekend and get the bike to where it needs to be so that we are in a good place going into qualifying,” Jackson explained ahead of round seven. “Hopefully then in the races I can get myself up the sharp end.

“Ideally the main aim is a podium at my home round in front of my home crowd which would be fantastic. Hopefully that will mean that I have my place confirmed in the Showdown as well.

“I am looking forward to this weekend. It has been a good track for me in the past, but I also know that it is a tough track and there are quite a few riders who have gone well there too. My hopes are high but also realistic. The ultimate goal is the podium and the race win. There is always pressure but I am going to try to turn that into something I can thrive off to give me that little bit extra I need on race day.

“If I can get into the Showdown this weekend then that would take a little bit of the pressure off going into Snetterton,” he admitted. “We need to get back onto the podium now and try and get some of those podium points to push myself and the team back up in the championship so that we can be as
