Bury shooting LIVE: Cordon in place on street after gunman opens fire outside bar

A street in Bury is cordoned off this morning after a shooting outside a bar.

The shooting happened on Silver Street in the town centre at around 11.45pm last night (Wednesday, October 23). Emergency crews, including armed officers, descended on the scene.

A man, aged 39, was rushed to hospital after being shot in the wrist. He remains there in a 'stable' condition, police said.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Greater Manchester Police said they believe the 'senseless' attack was 'isolated'.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area. This morning, a cordon is in place on a stretch of Silver Street with officers stationed at either end.
