Bury New Road in Prestwich closed due to ongoing police incident – latest updates

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are currently dealing with an incident on Bury New Road (A56) in Prestwich, with the road currently closed in both directions from St Mary's Road to Clifton Road. The road has been closed since around 11.30pm on Tuesday night.

GMP reported the incident on their Twitter feed at 11.15pm on Tuesday evening: “We are currently dealing with an incident on Bury New Rd in Prestwich and the road is currently closed near Aldi. Thank you for your patience.”

Diversions are in place for the Go North West bus services #GNW92, #GNW93, #GNW95, #GNW97, #GNW98 because of the accident. Services are diverted in both directions via Scholes Lane and Bury Old Road."
