Burnley confirms Foster under specialist care as Bafana striker tackles mental health challenges

Burnley has announced that Lyle Foster is taking a courageous step in prioritising his mental health by seeking professional assistance.

The 23-year-old sensation, who dazzled the Premier League with five goal contributions in his first seven games, has been absent in the team's recent league matches.

Foster's journey has been marked by both triumph and adversity.

Earlier this year, while in a Bafana Bafana camp, he candidly revealed his battle with severe depression.

At that point, he even contemplated relinquishing his European football dream before his move to Burnley. However, he overcame those dark moments with the unwavering support of his family.

Despite his earlier triumphs, it seems that Foster is still navigating his path to complete recovery, prompting Burnley to issue an official statement regarding his recent absence.

"On behalf of Lyle Foster and his family, they have asked us to provide an update on Lyle's illness. Recently, Lyle informed us that he continues to grapple with challenges related to his mental well-being and has taken the courageous step of seeking professional help," the statement read.

"At present, he is under the care of specialists who are providing the necessary support and attention to facilitate his full recovery. With the love and support of his family and the entire Burnley Football Club, we are committed to offering everything he needs to regain his health."
