The Bulls have clinched victory over the Griquas in an entertaining Currie Cup encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

The hosts won 48-38 after leading 36-5 at half-time.

The hosts were rampant in the first half as they scored five tries to one on their way to a 36-5 lead at the interval.

Bulls right-wing Stravino Jacobs went over twice while further tries by flank Cyle Brink, lock Reinhardt Ludwig and fullback Canan Moodie saw the home team dominate,

Flyhalf Chris Smith added four conversions and a penalty as the Bulls took a commanding lead at the break with the Griquas on the scoreboard through a Sango Xamlashe try.

The second half was the men from Kimberley show their mettle though and they made sure they took a four-try bonus from the contest.

Flank Hanru Sirgel went over for two of the visitors' five tries in the second half while right-wing Munier Hartzenberg and Christopher Hollis also dotted down which was also complemented with a penalty try when the Bulls stopped a rolling maul close to the line illegally.

While Griquas made a fist of it with some enterprising play, the Bulls always kept them arms length on the scorboard and home side scored two tries of their own in the second half through hooker Jan-Hendrik Wessels and centre Harold Vorster.

In next weekend's Currie Cup fixtures, the Bulls will host Lions at Loftus on Saturday, 14 May, while the Griquas have a bye.
