Bullish Dundee issue Rangers clash 'assurances' as Tony Docherty confident game will be ON

Tony Docherty has reassured Rangers the Dens Park pitch will be ready for their visit on Wednesday night.

Four games have already been postponed on their own turf this season due to waterlogging with the weekend clash with Motherwell eventually deemed playbable after TWO inspections on Saturday ahead of the clash including a final check at 1pm - just two hours before the scheduled 3pm start.

Further rain is anticipated to hit Tayside on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of Philippe Clement and his troops making the journey to the City of Discovery. However, Docherty insists he has had assurances the game WILL go ahead and has no concerns over a FIFTH KO of the season due to the weather. Asked if he had any concerns, the Dundee boss said: "No, I don't. All I know is there is a game on Wednesday and my job is to prepare the team for that. That's all I'm doing and that's what I'll continue to do."

Asked if the rain covers were down on the pitch, He added: "As far as I believe. I've just had assurances that the game will go ahead. That's all I know, and that's all I need to know, that the game will go ahead."

The surface at Dundee has come in for major criticism this season. Stuart Kettlewell let rip at the weekend ahead of Motherwell's clash on the turf. Docherty concedes he wants the best possible pitch for his side but says it is not something he is comfortable discussing as he is not qualified in that area.

He continued: "It's something I'm not comfortable speaking about because it's not something I'm qualified in, but you see the way we play, I want the best pitch possible for my team because I think we've got a really good footballing side.
