'BT phoned and I nearly fell off my chair' - Holidaymaker runs up £192,000 phone bill over four days in Turkey

A holidaymaker - and his boss - were left stunned after he ran up a £192,069 phone bill over four days in Turkey.

Car salesman John Nisill told how he nearly fainted when BT said he had used 43GB of data during his trip.

He said he answered a few emails and made 16 minutes worth of calls during the family break to Marmaris in October.

Mr Nisill, from Skelmersdale, near Wigan, revealed his shocked boss contacted him and told him to switch off his work issue mobile phone at once, reports The Sun.

He said: "My boss called and said you're going to have to switch off the phone.

"The bill seems a little high.

"I said 'what is it?'

"He said £100,000. Next day he phoned back and said 'definitely switch it off, it's now £192,000'."

Mr Nisill's boss, Paul Trotter, of AAA Performance in Rainford, Merseyside, added: "BT phoned and I nearly fell off my chair when the bloke said how much.

Mr Trotter said the company couldn't afford to pay the sky-high bill.

He took out a business contract which includes 250MB of data.

Because it is not a consumer contract, no warning is given when a customer has reached the data limit.

He added: "I was worried at first but I'm confident BT will realise it's just an error.

"John had a great holiday so there's no harm done and we've even managed to laugh about it."

A BT spokesman said the firm would waive the bill.

He said: "We understand this is a very significant bill to receive, so, on this occasion, we are waiving the surplus roaming charges.

"I
