Brutal: Insider now hints Howe has made huge player decision for 'new era'

Dean Jones has dropped a worrying update on Allan Saint-Maximin’s Newcastle United future on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel. 

Newcastle United will know that if Leeds United fail to win tomorrow night against Chelsea they will be mathematically safe and have a spot in the Premier League next season which is huge for their summer transfer business with Luke Edwards claiming four to six new players are expected to arrive on Tyneside.

However, despite being owned by PIF, Eddie Howe is set to be handed a relatively small budget of £60 million, which could be why reports have suggested that offers could be listened to for Saint-Maximin this summer, especially after his showing against Manchester City which highlighted his clear inability or unwillingness to defend with the team.

Jones believes that Saint-Maximin is not the player Newcastle want to lead them into the future.

(36:02) “I think Newcastle they’re going to look for a player of that kind [winger] and Saint-Maximin is not going to be seen as the guy that leads Newcastle into a new era, they’re going to look beyond that.”

TIF Thoughts on Saint-Maximin’s future…

Jones’ comments are interesting especially considering Howe has previously spoken about how much he’s enjoyed working with Saint-Maximin since taking the Newcastle job last year, but if the winger is simply not going to be putting the hard yards in defensively it’s difficult to see him being someone that Howe can rely on consistently.

There have been reports that Newcastle are interested in Ismaila Sarr and Moussa Diaby which would suggest that Saint-Maximin’s future is going to be very much up in the air this summer which is no surprise given his recent run of poor form that’s seen him produce one
