Bruno Lage gives Trincao transfer update & explains what he ‘does better’ than Adama Traore

Bruno Lage is expecting Francisco Trincao to complete his season-long loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Portuguese winger Trincao moved to Molineux on loan from Barcelona in the summer and Wolves have the option to make the transfer permanent for £26million.

The 22-year-old has been used regularly by Lage this season, starting 12 Premier League games and making a further five appearances from the bench.

However, reports surfaced in Spain before Christmas that Barcelona would look to negotiate the termination of Trincao's loan spell with Wolves.

It was claimed that Xavi - who succeeded Ronald Koeman as Barcelona head coach in November - wanted Trincao to return to the Camp Nou for the second half of the campaign.

But with just six days of the transfer window remaining, an exit looks increasingly unlikely.

"I don’t have any news about that, but I’m thinking about him until the end of the season," Lage told "I’m very happy with him."

Lage regularly waxes lyrical about the qualities of his four wingers, Trincao, Adama Traore, Daniel Podence and Hwang Hee-chan, and all of them have featured prominently this term.

Hwang's injury has provided Podence with the opportunity to make the left wing position in his own, while Lage has chopped and changed between Trincao and Traore on the opposite flank.

Traore started three games on the spin in December, before Lage replaced him with Trincao for three of Wolves' next four Premier League fixtures.

Traore scored his first Premier League goal of the season against Southampton recently, whereas Trincao is still waiting for a goal contribution in the league.

Lage insists Trincao's statistics are irrelevant and explained what his compatriot does better than Wolves' other wingers.
