Bruno Fernandes sends Alejandro Garnacho Man United message after eight-year wait

Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to Alejandro Garnacho after the 20-year-old assisted Paulo Dybala's goal while playing for Argentina.

Garnacho has endured a frustrating start to the season with Manchester United but played a key role in helping his nation beat Chile in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday. The winger was introduced by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni with around 10 minutes left to play.

Garncaho was able to assist Dybala who made it 3-0 in stoppage time. The moment was an emotional one with images on social media emerging of Garnacho wearing a Dybala shirt eight years ago in 2016, something which Fernandes has appeared to reference when commenting on an Instagram post of the United forward celebrating with his idol.

"Assistance with the t-shirt you're going to give me? I like it," he said followed by a smiley face with a love heart emoji.

Fernandes has always appreciated Garnacho's talent. Speaking after his stunning bicycle kick goal against Everton last season, the Portuguese compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It’s amazing – something out of this world, I think,” he told the PA news agency. “Probably he’s watching too much Cristiano clips!

"We all know that he’s a big fan. Still a long way for him to be like Cristiano but he’s getting his steps. He wants to be something special in the world of football and I think he has the capability to do that, but he has to do more than that goal!”

Garnacho has made three appearances for United so far this season, assisting Joshua Zirkzee's winner against Fulham in the opening game
