Bruno Fernandes makes discipline admission about Manchester United dressing room

Bruno Fernandes has admitted the Manchester United dressing room has been lacking discipline recently, but backed Erik ten Hag to bring some authority back this season.

United's dressing room was split last season as the campaign unravelled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick and the players were unable to halt the slide.

They recorded United's worst ever Premier League season and Ten Hag has inherited a squad in desperate need of a lift, with pre-season results impressive so far.

Ten Hag has brought an intense approach to training and has already shown the players who is boss, while he is also demanding discipline on and off the pitch.

Fernandes believes that is just what is needed this summer, having admitted standards have dropped at the club recently.

“I think we missed that for a while, and I think, for me, the way I see discipline is important," said Fernandes.

"For me, discipline is not only the way you play on the pitch, the position that you have, what you have to do, it's also off the pitch – don't be late for the meetings, don't be late for the meals.

"I think that's really important because if everyone is on time and someone comes late, he should be punished and I think that's really good that he's doing that and for me amazing, because I like to be on time, so I won't have problems with that."

Ten Hag has had an immediate impact at United and the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia has brought impressive results and clear strides forward on the pitch.
