Bruno Fernandes handed fresh Manchester United exit route as player stance on transfer clear

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is once again attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League - at least according to reports.

Fernandes previously rejected a move to the Gulf state - amid interest from Al-Hilal - when his agent Miguel Pinho held talks with the Saudi club and a £100million transfer was discussed.

Their aim was to sign Fernandes in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, but that deal did not materialise.

Earlier this month, Al-Nassr also failed in their attempt to land the Portuguese.

However, that interest has seemingly not faded, and Al-Ittihad are now pushing for his signature. According to The Sun's Konstantinos Lianos, a meeting took place between the Saudi club and Fernandes' representatives, with talks reportedly described as positive.

Lianos also reports that the 30-year-old playmaker is 'open' to the move and is understood to have 'asked' the club for a contract worth around £33million-a-year.

With that said, Fernandes has previously made it clear he would be willing to leave Old Trafford, if the club wanted to cash in. "I have always been honest," the captain said. "I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go.

"I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days.

"In the day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it.

"But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it's time to part ways, because they'd want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is, and football sometimes is like this."
