Bruno Fernandes details Manchester United dressing room attitude to takeover talk

Bruno Fernandes insists he and his Manchester United teammates are keeping their focus on the pitch amid takeover talk surrounding the club.

United were the subject of two formal takeover bids late on the 17 February soft deadline set by the Raine Group - a merchant banking group leading a potential sale of the club by the Glazer family. Speculation over a sale began with a statement from the American family last November, with the bids from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe intensifying the process.

Amid all the talk of new owners, those on the pitch are on track to producing one of United's best seasons in years, with Erik ten Hag's side still competing in all four competitions and able to claim their first piece of silverware since 2017 in Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

And Fernandes, who will likely lead his side out at Wembley on Sunday with club captain Harry Maguire a regular substitute this season, knows the importance of keeping laser focus on what he can effect.

"For me it's not difficult because I try to focus on my game," Fernandes told Sky Sports. "I try to focus on whatever I can do inside the buildings here, inside the stadium, inside the pitch, because it's everything that we can control is ourselves, it's the best we can do.

"So we know the surroundings, we know the voices. It's impossible to not know at this moment. We are in a place where it's easy to talk about United because we know it makes a lot of noise talking about the club. But I think if you keep doing the right things, if you keep the momentum, if you keep the results, it will always be less and less the noise.
