Bruce wanted him in 2017: Journalist hints West Brom could 'bring' player to Hawthorns

Jack Wilshere is currently a free agent who is reportedly looking for a club, and with the recent introduction of Steve Bruce at West Brom, the new Baggies boss will be looking to inject some new life into his squad.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Pete O’Rourke has stated that he believes Wilshere could potentially make a move to The Hawthorns.

He said: “It wouldn’t be a total surprise. I’m sure Steve Bruce will be looking to freshen things up at West Brom, obviously Wilshere is a free agent, so West Brom would be able to bring him in.”

Wilshere has been training with the Arsenal squad over the past few months and even travelled with the players to Dubai for a training camp, according to The Sun.

TIF Thoughts on a move to West Brom for Jack Wilshere…

Jack Wilshere was once dubbed as the next big thing whilst coming through the ranks at Arsenal and produced a famous mesmerising performance against Barcelona at just 19 years old.

Bruce even suggested he was open to signing the midfielder back in 2017, when he said: “Hey, who wouldn’t want Jack Wilshere? But I don’t know whether we’re capable of landing him and let’s not forget he’s only 25,” when talking on TalkSport.

Bruce has recently been appointed as Baggies manager due to a poor run of form under previous boss Valerien Ismael and he may be looking to implement some new players who have experience to get his side back into the Premier League.

Wilshere had spells most recently with West Ham United and Bournemouth, but things have not quite gone to plan.

His talent is indisputable and as he is currently a free agent, it won’t be too much of a risk for Bruce if he was to bring in the former England international into The Hawthorns for the remainder of the season.
