Bromley v Gillingham: Top-of-the-table clash live on Sky as unbeaten League 2 rivals meet – manager Gareth Ainsworth relishes clash with South London side

Gillingham make the short journey to south London on Saturday as the only two teams with unbeaten starts to their League 2 campaigns go head to head.

The Gills go into the weekend sitting top of the table with 14 points from their opening six fixtures, while hosts Bromley are two points adrift in third.

Ainsworth’s side won 1-0 at Oldham last time out and have returned with a point from Accrington and Tranmere.

“Away from home we’ve been very good this season,” said the Gills boss ahead of the sell-out fixture.

Watford loanee Travis Akomeah played the full game against Fulham under-21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday and is unlikely to get in ahead of Ainsworth’s current defensive picks.

Garath McCleary played 52 times last season but hasn’t any minutes this term and, at 38, Ainsworth admits he’ll need to be eased in.

He said: “Whether the new signings will be involved or not, we’ve got some injuries coming back as well. All will be revealed, I’m sure, just before kick-off on Saturday but I’m really looking forward to it.

“[Garath’s] very similar to Aaron Rowe. He’s missed a bit of pre-season, so we’re going to have to really drip feed Garath in.”

McCleary may not be able to hit the ground running, but Ainsworth said: “Have a look
