Broadcasters hold sway in Everton v Manchester United kick-off time

The Premier League clash between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park is scheduled for a novel 7pm kick-off on Sunday to ensure that BT Sport's coverage of the match doesn't clash with Sky Sports' broadcast earlier in the day.

New Premier League rules concerning teams in Europa League action on Thursday nights prevented the original 12.30pm Saturday kick-off from going ahead.

With Sky Sports showing Crystal Palace v Leeds at 2pm and Arsenal v Liverpool at 4.30pm, the later kick-off time slot avoids a ratings battle between the two broadcasters.

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United side travel to Cyprus on Thursday to face Neil Lennon's Omonia Nicosia as they bid to bounce back from a 6-3 drubbing by Manchester City at the weekend.

Bruno Fernandes is embracing a busy workload, with the midfielder telling MUTV that playing so many games "is a good thing".

"You don't have that much time to recover, but at the same time you have to understand that you have a chance to get a result, a good result, a good performance to give more confidence to the team," Fernandes added.

"It’s about now going to the Europa League and winning the next game, and all the games that are coming for us."

Everton’s latest 2-1 win at Southampton reflects their upward trajectory this season. After losing their two opening league fixtures, Frank Lampard's side went on a run of four draws before winning their last two.
