Bristol City set for cash windfall if Newcastle United deal is completed

Bristol City could be set for a huge boost this month – and the potential chance to splash the cash before the window closes – if Newcastle United sign Adam Webster, as reported by journalist Gregor MacGregor.

The club have been solid enough in the Championship so far this season but have had to settle for midtable in the division so far this season. The side – and Nigel Pearson – would like to be much higher up the standings but they haven’t been able to pick up enough points so far.

However, there could potentially be an end of window spending spree on the cards if another unrelated deal goes ahead. That’s because Adam Webster, who currently plies his trade for Brighton, is now a target for Newcastle as reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Toon have been looking to spend some of their newfound wealth this month to try and ensure they stay in the top flight. The club have struggled at the bottom end of the table and will want to ensure they have enough strength in depth to compete until the end of the campaign.

With the Premier League outfit now backed by plenty of money, they could splash the cash to get a deal done – and that would benefit Bristol City, who have a sell-on fee included with the defender when they let him go.

It means that, as reported by Gregor MacGregor, any Newcastle deal for the player could ultimately land the Robins plenty of cash. If they do get a fair sum before deadline day, then they could decide to spend it before the window shuts.
