Brighton: Graham Potter could clinch 'great signing' in £9m star

Eddie Nketiah would be a “great” signing for Brighton, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

The Arsenal striker is out of contract this summer and is set to leave the Emirates after rejecting a new contract.

Despite recently coming to the front with two goals for the Gunners against Chelsea last Wednesday, the £9m-rated striker is expected to move on at the end of the season after finding opportunities hard to come by under Mikel Arteta.

The game at Stamford Bridge was just Nketiah’s second top-flight start of the season, with his first coming four days earlier at Southampton.

Brighton were linked with a £20m move for the England Under-21 record goalscorer last summer, but he ended up staying in north London despite interest from other Premier League clubs, too.

But with Nketiah now available for nothing, Graham Potter’s side, who’ve scored just 29 goals this season, which is the worst outside of the bottom three, could come back in for his services, with their need for a frontman increasing with every passing week.

And Barclay reckons that a move to the Amex Stadium would be a good fit for the Arsenal striker, who’s in desperate need of regular first-team football after just 14 top-flight starts in three years.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if he was to stay in England, Palace or Brighton would work really well for him; both teams create chances. And for Brighton, if they could give him the chance to prove himself, that would be a great signing.”
