Bridgerton star confirmed for terrifying horror film about demonic DJ

Bridgerton star Harriet Cains has been confirmed to star in a new 1979-set horror film, Video Killed The Radio Star, alongside Jojo Rabbit actor Luke Brandon Field.

The film will follow a pirate radio DJ (Luke Brandon Field) as he accidentally unleashes a demonic entity during his broadcast, turning the station into a battleground for humanity.

With the help of his assistant (Harriet Cains), the DJ must try and stop the supernatural threat that's making it's way through the airewaves, Deadline reports.

Production on the film began on July 8 in London and the film is directed by Brad Watson while Phil McKenzie and Michelle Arnusch. The team behind the story, namely Ben Charles Edwards and Kirsty Bell explores how the popularity of music video in the 80s posed as a threat to traditional radio broadcasts.

Interestingly, the movie name comes from The Buggles hit song which was released back in 1979.

Dreamtown co-founder Ben Charles Edwards said: "We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Luke Brandon Field and Harriet Cains headline Video Killed the Radio Star.

"Luke’s intensity and Harriet’s dynamic presence are perfect for bringing our characters to life. Dreamtown has set out to deliver precisely what the market desires by offering unique and captivating angles in our storytelling. We couldn’t be more excited."

The makers are yet to announce a release date but as production is underway, Video Killed The Radio Star is expected to release in 2025.
