Bride-to-be left with 'bitter taste' after 'passive aggressive' email warns of 'decisive action'

A bride-to-be has been left with a "bitter taste" after receiving an email from her wedding venue warning her to tell her guests that "disruptive behaviour" could lead to their celebrations being shut down.

The woman - who does not want to be named - said she received the email with the subject "AN IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING" from Whitley Hall Hotel in Grenoside, Sheffield, on Friday. The bride-to-be said she was "so upset and outraged" when she read the email that she believes "comes across very passive aggressive."

YorkshireLive has seen a copy of the email which says that venue bosses won't 'hesitate to take decisive action, which may in extreme circumstances include bringing the celebration to a close'. It also warns the couple that "any disruption or damage caused as a result of their actions will incur direct financial consequences.

The email said: "As the big day approaches, we wanted to address an important matter that requires your attention. We, the management of Whitley Hall Hotel, are committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all our staff team, hotel guests and attendees at your wedding celebration, and recent events have compelled us to reiterate our expectations and potential consequences.

"It has come to our attention that there have been instances of disruptive behaviour at weddings held in our venue. This includes causing damage to property, displaying rude or aggressive behaviour towards our staff members, the taking of illegal substances and guests consuming their own alcohol on the premises.
