Bricks collapse and residents evacuated after car smashes into Greater Manchester home

A house has been left severely damaged after a car ploughed into it overnight. Dramatic images show the wreckage caused after a blue Nissan Note drove into a house on Highfield Road, in Farnworth, Bolton.

Emergency services were called out to the scene, near the junction with Lucas Road, at around 10.50pm last night (April 11). A 20-year-old man, who was driving the Nissan, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Police says no other people were injured, but two people were checked at the scene, according to the fire service. The occupants of the house have been evacuated for their safety.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to an incident in Farnworth, Bolton last night at around 10:50pm involving a car crashing into a house.

"The driver, a 20-year-old man, is in hospital with serious injuries and thankfully no one else has been hurt. Road closures are in place on and around Highfield Road and a scene will remain on while we work with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) to make the area safe and investigate how this happened."

Highfield Road has reopened to traffic this morning. A cordon remains in place around the house, which is showing signs
