Brice Samba hits back in Nottingham Forest contract row as Man Utd wages claim made

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has taken to social media to dispute reports about his contract negotiations with the club.

The 28-year-old is understood to have been offered a new contract by the Reds following their promotion to the Premier League but Samba a Twitter post from Samba appears to reject that and more. Samba has 12 months remaining on his current contract at the City Ground, with and is said to be keen on a return to France this summer. Ligue 1 side Lens have been strongly linked with his signature.

Forest are understood to be hopeful of signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on loan. Should an agreement be reached then Henderson would replace Samba as the club's number one in the top flight ahead of this upcoming season.

Transfer journalist Santi Aouna, in a tweet translated from French, has claimed on Sunday that reports from MailOnline that Samba rejected a 'new contract offer worth double his current salary' are "not true" before expanding further. "When signing at Nottingham, Samba simply negotiated a clause to increase his salary in the event of a move up to PL.

"No increase was submitted to him. Henderson's salary is three times higher than Samba's."

Just ten minutes after the tweet went live, Samba quote tweeted the post with a graphic showing former NBA player-turned-pundit Charles Barkley and a quote that has been photoshopped. The quote reads "Over 7000 languages and Santi Aouna chose to speak facts." The original graphic uses Barkley's name instead of Aouna's.

The move is likely to make Samba's exit from Forest even more likely. That was unthinkable just three weeks ago when he was one of Forest's promotion heroes in the play-off final win at Wembley.
