Brian McDermott quits Hibs as director of football after just a year at Easter Road

Brian McDermott is to leave Hibs after just one year at Easter Road.

The 63-year-old is stepping down as director of football in Leith. McDermott was appointed in May last year but Record Sport understands he will leave after just a year in the post. The former Leeds and Reading boss played a big part in bringing a number of key signings to the club, including Dylan Vente. Hibs have already moved to overhaul their football department after the disappointment of missing out on the top six last season.

Malky Mackay has come in as sporting director. He has promoted David Gray to head coach. Gray impressed when he held the fort after Nick Montgomery’s departure and also in the interview process. The new boss is currently looking to finalise his coaching team, with Liam Craig set to join him. The recruitment team are also working on various transfer targets, while there is interest in Elie Youan and Martin Boyle.
