Brennan Johnson question slammed after Nottingham Forest Premier League promotion

Former Nottingham Forest man David Johnson has provided an emphatic response to a fan questioning his son Brennan's impact in big games.

The 21-year-old has been a key player for Forest this season as they returned to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years. Johnson played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 play-off final win over Huddersfield at the weekend.

That game was the academy graduate’s 53rd appearance in all competition after returning to Forest at the start of the season. He impressed during a loan spell with Lincoln City in the season before. Taking to Twitter after the play-off final, Forest fan Callum asked: "Forest fans what's your opinion on the question. Does Brennan Johnson go missing in big game's. Let me know. I have my answer.”

That question prompted a response from former Forest player and Brennan's father David, who wrote: “19 goals & 10 assist. EFL young player of the year.”

“No #nffc player has even got close to that in over 23 years. Never mind a player being worth £20+M. So you can keep your opinion and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine ( have a good summer).”

Johnson has been the subject of Premier League League interest over the last few months, with a number of clubs said to be interested in making a summer move for the youngster. Promotion to the Premier League means that Forest are now likely to keep hold of their star man.

Speaking at the celebration event at Old Market Square on Monday, the Forest man outlined his desire. “Yesterday was the best day of my life. I can’t wait to play here next season," he said .
