Brendan Rodgers leaves Celtic LIVE as boss walks out and chaos breaks loose at Parkhead

Wow. Just wow. Do we need to say more than that?

The bombshell dropped late last night and it's likely to be a while before the dust settles. Brendan Rodgers is no longer Celtic manager after dramatically resigning from his post.

A scathing Dermot Desmond statement followed with the departing boss branded 'toxic' and 'divisive', and the Parkhead club have officially crossed the threshold from lethargy to full blown crisis.

If the news Rodgers has walked out wasn't enough, the additional sub-plot of Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney immediately being handed the reins in the interim puts another layer on the story of the season so far.

The hunt is on for the next permanent boss with Ange Postecoglou likely to be right in the mix – although questions are already being asked over whether he'd be open to it given how things are developing behind the scenes and on the pitch.

Oh yeah. And there's a game against Falkirk to worry about tomorrow night.

And not least as only an hour or so earlier than the news broke that Brendan Rodgers had walked away from Celtic for a second time, he was still going about his business as if nothing at all had changed.

Rodgers was still exchanging text messages and giving absolutely no indication that he was writing a letter of resignation at the same time.

So yes, it did feel like a bomb had gone off when Celtic announced that he had left the club with immediate effect and that his replacements had already been lined up and secured.
