Brendan Rodgers has 'clear' Celtic transfer plan as ex Hopes hero has Joe Hart successor and Scott Brown clone hunch

It's clear to one pundit that Brendan Rodgers will sign a goalkeeper this month - while a battler like Scott Brown should also be sought for midfield.

The Irishman has been busy on the recruitment drive this summer and Gustaf Lagerbielke of Elfsborg could be next in the door, after signings of Marco Tilio, Odin Thiago Holm, Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Maik Nawrocki. But debate has swirled all summer over Joe Hart's position as number one and former defender Charlie Mulgrew believes it's an area manager Rodgers will look to strengthen.

There are other areas up for debate too, including a physical midfield character like their beloved former skipper. Mulgrew told Go Radio: "It is clear they are looking for a goalkeeper. When Brendan Rodgers first came in, the first thing he did was he looked for a goalkeeper that could play with his feet. Joe Hart did ok under Ange with his feet but Brendan Rodgers will get a goalkeeper in. That is my opinion.

"Joe Hart did well with his feet but he is not naturally a good footballer with his feet as a goalkeeper and with the way Brendan Rodgers likes to play, that is one of the players they will get in. They need a centre-back. He (Gustaf Lagerbielke) could be the answer next to Cameron Carter-Vickers as if he picks up another knock then Celtic would be in a bit of bother in that area and I think they need someone next to Carter-Vickers.

"You need strength in depth, especially going into the Champions League. I think they need another midfielder depending on what style they play. If they are going to be more defensive, which a lot of teams in the Champions League do and make you play more defensive, I think they need a holding midfielder like Scott Brown, that type of player."
