Brendan Rodgers' Celtic return announcement date 'revealed' as Parkhead second spell is ON

Brendan Rodgers is poised to be unveiled as Celtic’s new boss on Monday.

Talks have been ongoing with the Northern Irishman over a sensational return to Parkhead, four years after leaving for Leicester City. Majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has taken control of the recruitment process since CEO Michael Nicholson and finance chief Chris McKay jetted out to Mallorca a week ago to hold preliminary talks with Rodgers.

Desmond flew into Glasgow for face-to-face discussions with the former Liverpool manager and since then, bot parties have been locked in negotiations. The timing is key for the Hoops, with a strong reaction expected from a section of fans who were furious at the way Rodgers’ upped and left during the 10-In-A-Row attempt, which ultimately failed under successor Neil Lennon. Now he is aiming to get that element of the support back onside, who have just lost an incredibly popular head coach in Ange Postecoglou, who departed for Tottenham after securing the Treble.

Now the Scottish Sun reports that Rodgers’ return will be rubber stamped in the next 48 hours. That puts Monday as the day for him to officially be back in the Celtic Park hotseat.

The money on offer will see Rodgers become the highest paid boss in Hoops history. He pocketed a cool £2.2million per year the first time around, but the latest package is set to take him beyond that, with Celtic set to back him in the transfer market in order to make an impact in the Champions League, whilst trying to keep Rangers in their rearview mirror.
