Brendan Rodgers Celtic presser in full as he thanks fans for singing his name again but knows some will NEVER forgive him

Brendan Rodgers says his dream is still to take Celtic to the highest level he possibly can - as the boss admits he may NEVER win some fans back.

The Hoops' Champions League hopes - and European ambitions after Christmas - were left dangling by a thread after a 6-0 humbling by Atletico Madrid. Daizen Maeda's controversial red card in the first half after a yellow card was turned red by VAR sparked a catalogue of home goals, leaving them needing to win both their final games of the group against Lazio and Feyenoord to stand any chance of remaining on the continent.

A strong domestic start though has sections of the support singing the Irishman's name again though, as feelings of discontent from his exit to Leicester City midway through the 2018/19 season clear. But Rodgers admits he knows he won't tick every box for every fan. When asked about fans singing his name again made him feel, he explained: "I understand it was going to be different from the first time I came in because of the hurt and everything that was here. But I always felt time would hopefully resolve that, show my commitment to being here. But I understood it, but there are people who will never get over it what happened when I was here the first time and that is the reality of it.

"But it's great as if you are a club and together as one, that unity really allows you to go forward. I am blessed to work at a club where the support make a genuine difference to a club and its performance."

Celtic have taken one point from four games in their Champions League section but Rodgers insists he will always thrive to have the Hoops competing in such arenas, with his players needing to take key lessons. He said ahead of Sunday's return to Premiership action
