Brendan Rodgers breaks Leicester future silence as former Celtic boss insists he has board's 'full support'

Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told reporters that he has the full support of the Leicester board despite noises being made about his potential sacking from the Foxes.

Having guided Leicester to two fifth-placed finishes, FA Cup and Community Shield jubilation and making the east Midlands outfit one of the toughest Premier League sides to beat since joining from Parkhead in February 2019, his side have nosedived so far this campaign with just one point and no wins from seven games in the top-flight.

Calls have been made to relieve him of his services from fans and pundits alike following a poor start which has incorporated 5-2 and 6-2 defeats away to Brighton and Tottenham respectively, though no action has been taken by Leicester chiefs just yet. And Rodgers has played down rumours that he may leave the club by stating that the owners of the club 'trust him' to drag the club out of the mire.

“The ownership trust me and expect that I’ll turn it around, and if I don’t they’ll tell me,” Rodgers said. “Our conversations are very open and honest, and we communicate well. I’ve seen Top a number of times and we speak when he’s over. So I have had nothing but support from the club but I also understand where we sit, and that is why we look forward to the game on Monday.”

The Hoops broke many records under his guidance, including a 69-game unbeaten streak across domestic competitions that saw an invincible Scottish Premiership season and breaking Celtic's highest transfer fee with the acquisition of Odsonne Edouard. But an adverse result to Nottingham Forest on Monday evening will surely inspire severe questions to be asked of his future at the King Power Stadium going forwards into the gruelling October calendar.
