Breathalyser reading made Greater Manchester Police officers' jaws drop

Greater Manchester Police PSCOs said their "jaws dropped" when they breathalysed a motorist in Radcliffe on Wednesday.

Officers said the female driver 'staggered' out of a car after a minor collision - and then blew a reading that was nearly five times the drink drive limit. The motorist is now in Custody.

Sharing details of the incident on Twitter late on Wednesday night, a GMP Special Constabulary officer said: "It's not often jaws drop after a drink driver provides positive breath samples... Driver blew 157 & 151 in custody - that's nearly FIVE times the limit!

"This followed us responding to a minor RTC in Radcliffe, with a female driver staggering out the car."

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland the breath limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. Being in charge of a vehicle while above the legal limit or unfit through drink can result in punishments including three months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to £2,500 and a driving ban.
