BREAKING: Two taken to hospital before being arrested after 'large scale fight' shuts road with huge police response

Two men who were taken to hospital after a brawl in the street have since been arrested, police have confirmed. An air ambulance was also called to the incident in Kenyon Lane, Moston, yesterday (April 6) afternoon

Eyewitnesses said the road was closed just before 5.30pm between Hinde Street and Penn Street. A group of men were seen 'fighting' in the street, with others saying they heard shouting shortly after 5pm.

Another said that a car was rammed into front of a shop on Kenyon Lane, which resulted in a smashed up window before making off. Shards of glass were pictured scattered across the ground.

At around 6.30pm, crime scene investigators and a tactical aid unit van arrived at the scene. They were seen carrying out fingertip searches and putting markers on the ground and along the pavement, particularly beside the shop front with the smashed window.

A large police presence remained at the scene throughout the evening, as the cordon remained in place hours after the incident first sprawled out into the street. A woman returning home from work last night told the Manchester Evening News : “It’s pretty common round here. I’ve lived here six years and there have been three or four incidents."

Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed they were called to an 'on-going large scale disturbance between a group of males'. One man was found with injuries to their back with another suffering facial injuries.

The injured men, aged 22 and 38, were taken to hospital. They have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and violent disorder. Both remain in custody with investigations ongoing.
