Thomas Tuchel has revealed the reason that Romelu Lukaku did not come on against Everton was because of Jorginho coming off at half-time. The Belgian striker was an unused substitute as he saw his current side lose to his former club at Goodison Park.
Richarlison handed Everton an early second-half lead after a mistake from Cesar Azpilicueta. When Chelsea needed a goal the most, they had the option of the club record signing to turn to, but instead, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech were given the nod.
When asked why he didn't turn to Lukaku on the bench, Tuchel replied: "Because we brought Jorginho off. We only had three changes."
