BREAKING: Road shut after reports of serious incident with air ambulance at scene - updates

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, have scrambled to a street in Moston this evening, following reports of a 'police incident'. Kenyon Lane has been closed in both directions as the emergency services deal with the reported incident.

People living nearby reported seeing an air ambulance flying low overhead this evening, before the road was closed off shortly after 5.30pm. The North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the incident at 5.31pm, with 'several resources' at the scene.

And public transport was diverted temporarily shortly afterwards, with Stagecoach taking to Twitter to confirm the news that the 114 service was following a temporary route. They wrote: "Due to a police incident on Kenyon Lane where the road is closed in both directions, the 114 service is diverting via Lightbowne Rd and Nuthurst Rd in both directions until further notice."

People living nearby also said they saw a red air ambulance helicopter trying to land close to the junction between Kenyon Lane and Moston Lane. The North West Ambulance Service told the M.E.N: "We’re currently responding to a police incident following a call at 17.31 and have several resources on the scene."

It is thought the closure in place between Hinde Street and Penn Street. An update on the live AA Traffic website said the road was reported closed at around 5.55pm. It read: "Road closed due to police incident on Kenyon Lane both ways between Hinde Street and Penn Street. Traffic is coping well. The road has been closed since 17:55."
