BREAKING: Police close off major city centre road following crash - latest updates
Part of a busy city centre road has been closed off this rush hour following a collision. Officers are at Fairfield Street, near to the inner ring road at Pin Mill Brow, this evening (May 24).
The road is currently closed off heading from Ardwick towards Manchester Piccadilly. Drivers are being warned to expect delays in the area.
An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring system said: "A635 Fairfield Street Westbound blocked, heavy traffic due to police incident from A665 Pin Mill Brow to B6469 Fairfield Street." Several police cars are currently in attendance.

Yellow evidence markers have also been placed on the road. Further details about the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police says the closure follows a crash between a HGV and a bike at around 1.40pm.
A male cyclist has been taken to hospital.
No arrests have been made, and the driver stayed at the scene, GMP says.
