BREAKING Manchester United handed major double injury blow as Erik ten Hag faces crisis ahead of Chelsea

Manchester United's Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez will be sidelined for at least another month after picking up fresh injuries.

Martinez had been out of action since early February, but returned to face Brentford last weekend. He started on the bench before replacing Lindelof in the second half after the Sweden international picked up a hamstring injury.

A club statement confirming the news, read: "Manchester United centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for at least a month due to muscle injuries."

Erik ten Hag will next speak to the media on Wednesday and give updates on the likes of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans as the United boss faces a defensive crisis.

United have struggled with injuries during a largely underwhelming campaign., they have nine league fixtures left to play this season, beginning with Chelsea away on Thursday, as well as an Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City later this month.

Ten Hag's side are currently sixth in the Premier League and 11 points off Aston Villa in fourth, but have a game in hand.
