BREAKING: Man in hospital after being stabbed by 'group of four to five men'

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed 'by a group of four to five men' in Rusholme.

Emergency services were scrambled to the incident on Walmer Street, just off the Curry Mile on Wilmslow Road, at around 6pm last night (Thursday).

The victim, a 37-year-old man, was rushed to hospital from the scene.

He remains there in a stable condition, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.

Officers believe that a group of around four or five men were involved in the stabbing.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

Last night, pictures taken at the scene showed a cordon in place near the Shere Khan restaurant.

Evidence markers were placed on the road and the pavement while forensic officers carried out investigations.

The restaurant's manager, Mansoor Hussain, told the M.E.N that he believed a group of around four people were involved.

He said: "I saw about four lads, youngsters, walking past. Next thing, the delivery driver came in and said 'someone's been stabbed and they're bleeding'.

"There was a car there so I think whatever happened was behind the car. I didn't see it.

"There are always kids messing about outside but you'd never think this would happen. It's not nice at all."

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 6.05pm on Thursday 10 March 2022 to Walmer Street, Rusholme to a report of a possible stabbing.

"Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 37-year-old man had been stabbed by a group of four to five males.

"He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made."
