BREAKING: Man fighting for his life in hospital after hit-and-run outside McDonald's

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit-and-run on a main road in Salford.

The 64-year-old was struck outside McDonald's on Bolton Road, on the border of Swinton and Pendlebury, at around 6.15pm last night (Thursday). The vehicle failed to stop at the scene, police said.

The man was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital. He remains there in a life-threatening condition.

Officers cordoned off a stretch of the road near the fast-food chain for several hours last night as investigations were carried out. Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is being urged to come forward.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Collision investigators from Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information after a man was left with serious injuries after an incident in Salford. The 64-year-old man was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop on Bolton Road in Swinton, near to McDonald's, at around 6:15pm last night (2/11/23).

"He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. Anyone with information, dashcam footage or who was in the area at the time should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 2833-2/11/23.

"Information can also be reported via www.gmp.police.uk or 101, or shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always dial 999."
