BREAKING: Major Manchester road shut after car flips in serious crash - live updates

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car overturned on a busy north Manchester road. Emergency services scrambled to Moston Lane, in Moston, near to the cemetery after the crash earlier this afternoon.

Drivers are being urged to avoid part of the busy north Manchester road this rush hour following the 'serious crash'. Traffic is currently being diverted away from the area, with the road closed by police.

Firefighters and paramedics have also been in attendance. The driver involved was taken to hospital as a precaution, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We were called at around 4.25pm today to a report of an overturned vehicle on Moston Lane, Manchester. The driver of the vehicle - a man in his 50s - has been arrested after being breathalysed over the limit.

"He has been taken to hospital as a precaution for his injuries. It appears only one vehicle was involved in this incident.

Bus services in Moston and Harpurhey are currently being affected by the crash, with traffic being diverted at Kenyon Lane and Nuthurst Road. In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester wrote: "Routes 112/114/115/116/117/118/119.

"Due to a serious RTC on Moston Lane, these services are diverting via Kenyon Lane, Lightbowne Road and Nuthurst Road until further notice. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you."
