Breaking Eddie Dunbar wins 'Queen Stage' for second Vuelta victory

Eddie Dunbar has won the penultimate stage of La Vuelta, holding on on the punishing 20th stage to take his second win of the Spanish Grand Tour this year.

Dunbar claimed the biggest win of his career last month when he claimed stage 11, but the in-form Corkman doubled up on Saturday, taking the coveted 'Queen Stage'.

He took off in pursuit of the leader Pavel Sivakov with five kilometres to the finish on the final climb of this year's Vuelta to Picon Blanco and went on to hold off the chasing group after overtaking the Frenchman.

Spain's Enric Mas came in second with Roglic, who took control of the red jersey after winning Friday's stage, close behind, and the Slovenian now has an overall lead of two minutes and two seconds over Australia's Ben O'Connor.

Team Jayco–AlUla rider Dunbar has suffered injury issues in recent years but is now hitting the form that many expected him to find when at Team Sky.

Sunday's final stage is a 24.6-km individual time trial in Madrid, where Roglic is set to be crowned champion for the fourth time.
