ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid interrupts show for second 'breaking news' announcement

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid paused the show with a second breaking news update on Wednesday.

During the latest instalment, the host, 53, announced to the audience: "Good morning Britain, our breaking news this morning is the UK economy showed no growth at all in July and that was for the second month in a row."

Susanna added: "According to official figures published in the last hour, the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, said tough measures are needed in next month's budget to help plug, what she said, is a £22 billion black hole in the public finances."

Her co-presenter Ed Balls chimed in with more developments: "Meanwhile, millions of pensioners are already set to lose their winter fuel payments this year and the controversial early release of prisoners to ease overcrowding in jails is continuing despite widespread criticism."

Earlier in the show, ahead of this evening's National Television Awards, Susanna broke the news to viewers about her co-stars' plans for the event, reports the Express. The NTAs, which will be hosted by comedian Joel Dommett, celebrate TV professionals and see numerous top shows in contention.

When discussing the pending awards night on Wednesday's show, fellow presenter Charlotte Hawkins, 49, confessed her outfit choice remained undecided. Teasing her colleague, Susanna revealed: "I've got breaking news for you... Richard Arnold's been getting ready, Charlotte doesn't know yet what she's going to wear!" to which Charlotte then responded with a hint of concern: "A little bit worrying!"
