Brazil legend Rivaldo sends transfer message to Andreas Pereira as Man United move in doubt

Brazil legend Rivaldo has urged Andreas Pereira to look elsewhere as his move from Manchester United looks to be on the verge of collapsing.

The midfielder had been expected to turn his loan move to Flamengo into a permanent transfer in the summer. The Brazilian club’s officials met with United earlier this year in order to come to an agreement over the fee involved.

While the South American side were thought to have secured a reduced fee for Pereira, the deal was not finalised, with Flamengo thought to have been saving the decision until the end of the 26-year-old’s spell on loan. There is now considerable doubt over whether Flamengo will pursue a permanent transfer.

Having been a regular feature in the side earlier in his loan spell, Pereira has fallen out of favour with manager Paulo Sousa. A drop in form has seen the midfielder’s chances in the side become more limited, and has seemingly damaged his chances of securing a move from Old Trafford with reports suggesting Flamengo could call the deal off.

That could lead to Pereira making a surprise return to United during the summer. Former World Cup winner Rivaldo though has urged his fellow countryman to start looking elsewhere.

“The future of Flamengo midfielder Andreas Pereira remains uncertain after Flamengo took a step back from his signing from Manchester United,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

“Currently, the Manchester team may already be preparing for his return, but I think he should look for a good solution that allows him to continue playing regularly.

“It will be difficult for him to have a place in the World Cup, however, if he wants to keep this dream alive he needs to be playing
