Braves ace Spencer Strider has UCL repaired, out for season - ESPN

Atlanta Braves ace Spencer Strider will miss the rest of the 2024 season after undergoing surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

The Braves announced Saturday that Strider had the surgery Friday, with Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas, using an internal brace to repair the UCL.

Strider, 25, made only two starts in 2024 before complaining about discomfort in his elbow during a four-inning outing April 5. An MRI then revealed the damage to his throwing elbow.

Strider, who led the majors with 20 wins and 281 strikeouts last season, joins a list of big-name pitchers who have suffered significant injuries this season.

Cleveland's Shane Bieber, the New York Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga, Miami's Eury Perez and Oakland's Trevor Gott are among the pitchers diagnosed with elbow injuries.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
