Brandon Williams drops hint on his Manchester United future after Real Madrid defeat

Brandon Williams admits he's hungry to prove a point in the new campaign after making an appearance from the bench for Manchester United against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly in Houston.

Kobbie Mainoo's inclusion in the starting line-up against Madrid on Thursday morning felt significant, but the youngster was forced off with an injury after just a few minutes and to make matters worse, Jude Bellingham scored moments later.

Although United were caught out by a ball over the defence, Bellingham still had lots to do and he remained composed before producing a well-executed dinked finish over the top of goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Onana was making his uncompetitive debut for United and he was helpless for Bellingham's goal. The 27-year-old impressed throughout the match but ultimately looked frustrated when conceding again in the 89th minute as Madrid striker Joselu scored a brilliant acrobatic effort to ensure the victory for his side.

Williams was one of nine substitutions to come onto the pitch in the second half and he spoke after the game. Although full-back is currently available for transfer away from Old Trafford, he admitted he was enjoying the opportunity to be with the first-team on tour in the USA and he described himself as 'hungry' at this stage of his career.

"In the first half, the first goal killed the game, taking some pace out of it from the start," Williams told MUTV. "As the game went on, at the start of the second half, I thought the boys did really well.
