Brady confirms retirement in Instagram post

Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from football on Tuesday.

Reports surfaced over the weekend that the seven-time Super Bowl champion would walk away and he confirmed that decision on Instagram.

"I have always believed the sport of football is an "all-in" proposition - if a 100% competitive commitment isn't there, you won't succeed, and success is what I love so much about our game," Brady wrote as part of his post. "There is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge EVERY single day that has allowed me to maximize my highest potential. And I have tried my very best these past 22 years. There are no shortcuts to success on the field or in life.

"This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention."

In the wake of his reported retirement from a legendary career, we take a look into Tom Brady's seven incredible Super Bowl wins and what it took for the greatest to ever do it to amass his impressive collection of hardware.

Brady, 44, is walking away after one of the best seasons of his career, throwing for a league-high 5,316 yards with 43 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. His season came to an end with a Divisional Round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams on a last-second field goal.

The three-time NFL MVP finished second to Aaron Rodgers in AP first-team All-Pro voting at quarterback earlier this month.
