Bradley Dack went off with an injury in Gillingham’s defeat to Harrogate Town and Robbie McKenzie will also need some treatment

Bradley Dack went off injured for Gillingham on Saturday but the manager has been quick to reassure fans.

Playmaker Dack has enjoyed a great start to the campaign and has captained the Gills in recent weeks, following an injury to club skipper Armani Little.

There was concern when Dack didn’t appear for the second half in Gills’ game against Harrogate Town.

But Dack spoke to the press himself post-match, and described the issue as a slight muscular twinge, with his substitution only precautionary.

Prior to that, boss Gareth Ainsworth had said: “[He had] a slight issue. It's difficult to lose somebody who scored two goals the week before.

“He's a bit of quality around the edge of the box. If something falls to him, sometimes that's the difference.

“We had to change him with Ethan [Coleman], who did fantastic and then the subs made a big impact as well.

“We've got a good squad here. No worries about that and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in next week now.”

Pressed further about Dack’s injury, Ainsworth added: “It's not serious. It's nothing like his previous injuries.”

He also added that Robbie McKenzie picked up an injury too, saying: “They were [both] just a little bit tight. So we protected them. That's what we've got to do sometimes.

“I think when we look at the long game, it's the right decision, you maybe sacrifice a few minutes for one player to make sure that they're playing the next minutes.

“Robbie's been brilliant this season and Bradley as well last week, just fantastic with his finishes.”

Dack said: “It was more of a precaution. Hopefully I’ll be fine for next week.”
