Boy, 4, diagnosed with cancer after waking up in a 'puddle of sweat'

A sudden change in a four-year-old's behaviour led his mum to take him to the GP which led to a devastating diagnosis.

Natalie Parry said her son Michael Moreton began showing concerning symptoms such as becoming "snappy" overnight, waking up in a "puddle of sweat", weight loss, and vomiting. The 27-year-old from Kirkby said Michael's little sister was beginning to overtake him in height and weight.

She said his symptoms were around for "quite a while" but they were beginning to become more frequent and more severe. Eventually, he had lost a "couple of pounds in weight and his skin went really pale", the Liverpool Echo reports.

She added: "Michael's behaviour changed, he wanted to be alone all the time and he had no patience for anyone, he was always snappy. It was just an overnight thing, he suddenly changed.

He also started sleeping a lot more. He would come home from nursery and he would be having a nap, but that was sudden as well as he used to have loads of energy.

"Michael has a three-year-old sister and there is a 13-month difference between him and her and we noticed she was taking over him in height and weight and that's when we thought something wasn't right.

"One of the main symptoms was the sweating in the night. He has always sweated but now when he wakes up there's a big pool of water around him, he's lying in a puddle of sweat."

Natalie then decided to take Michael to the GP. She told the doctor: "This is going to sound insane to you and you're going to think I'm overreacting, but I think my son has cancer".
