Boy, 13, from Hulme arrested on suspicion of murdering Kennie Carter

A 13-year-old boy from Hulme has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Kennie Carter.

Kennie, 16, died after being stabbed in the chest in Stretford on January 22.

The latest arrest is the 12th made by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in connection to the incident and the boy has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Eight other teenagers - aged between 13 and 17 - had already been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on conditional bail.

Three teenage boys who were arrested have since been eliminated from the inquiry.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were driving through the area on the evening of the incident - specifically Moss Road, Thirlmere Road or Victoria Road between 6pm and 7pm.

A GMP spokesman said: "Twelfth arrest made in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Kennie Carter

"Kennie died in hospital on Saturday 22 January after suffering a fatal wound to the chest following a stabbing in Stretford.

"Yesterday morning (Friday 11 February) a 13-year-old boy was arrested in the Hulme area on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
