Borussia Dortmund adviser drops significant Erling Haaland to Man City hint

Manchester City fans will be encouraged to hear a Borussia Dortmund adviser talking about Erling Haaland working with Pep Guardiola as fact, saying both will 'benefit from each other.

Reports have increased in the last week of City moving forward with their attempts to sign Haaland this summer. German and Spanish media reported that City have agreed personal terms with Haaland, and while MEN Sport understands that is slightly premature, talks are believed to have taken place and City are undoubtedly in pole position to sign Europe's most sought-after striker.

Now, Dortmund adviser Matthias Sammer has commented on the potential transfer, describing it as fact before backtracking slightly and offering an update on talks on Tuesday.

Speaking on Amazon Prime (via Goal ), Sammer was asked how Haaland could work with Guardiola, to which he replied: "They will both benefit from each other. Because Pep, of course – I was able to experience him for three years – has a certain idea.

"I can also imagine dealing with a centre-forward, no question. But he will also have to learn from the centre-forward."

When asked if his answer meant a deal was already done, Sammer retreated and said he didn't know. However, he did offer an insight into the possible figures involved in talks for Haaland.

"I didn't hear anything today, yesterday, the day before yesterday," he said. "I know City is after him. The numbers – I had whiplash! I passed out. My wife picked me up again. Accordingly, it is possible.”
