Boot deals, an injury boost and other things spotted at Aston Villa training session
Steven Gerrard has spoken about the importance of lifting the doom and gloom at Aston Villa by returning to winning ways down at Brighton tomorrow.
Villa are yet to win off the back of the winter break and are scoreless in more than 240 minutes of Premier League football.
As for Gerrard, he's orchestrated Villa's final training session at Bodymoor Heath prior to travelling to the Amex Stadium.
In the club's latest behind-the-scenes footage from Bodymoor, picks out the interesting bits with Villa not giving too much away on this occasion.
Here's what we spotted.
In today's press conference, Gerrard was asked a simple question: what's gone wrong over the last few weeks, for you? His reply was as follows: "The clear one is obviously we haven't scored goals so we need to find our edge and our ruthlessness in the final third and around the box."
In Villa's latest session, a big emphasis was placed on the midfielders and forward players finishing first time in and around the 18-yard box.
Jacob Ramsey was tasked with dribbling forward before striking low past Robin Olsen in the bottom corner, while John McGinn did the exact same.
The likes of Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey were all put in on goal and honed-in on their finishing in one-vs-one situations against Emi Martinez, Olsen and young stopper Viljami Sinisalo.
A keen observer of today's session would have noted how Matty Cash and Tyrone Mings have potentially signed new boot deals with US sports giant Under Armour.
Polish international Cash was previously with Adidas but, against Watford last week, donned Under Armour studs for the first time while, for Mings, he's had a long establishment with Nike but, today, followed Cash in wearing Under Armour.
